Jesus Christ - The Perfect Example
I find it fascinating how the world has so many methods to overcoming problems and becoming more effective. These methods include literature, counseling, workshops, and the list goes on. As I have taken part in some of these workshops and read some of the literature, I have been fascinated to discover the same principles taught even stronger in the scriptures.
While reading the scriptures today, I thought about the example of Jesus Christ when He visited the people in ancient America. He allowed all of the people present to feel the wounds in his hands, feet, and side (see 3 Nephi 11:15). He healed all of the sick and afflicted who were present (see 3 Nephi 17:9). Jesus Christ is the perfect example for us. If we read His words and follow His example, we don't need anything else. Truly, the scriptures give us the perfect examples we need to become better.
One such example that I found is in 3 Nephi 22. Jesus is teaching the people and then begins to quote some of the words of Isaiah. He says in verse 10, "For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee." Sometimes, we place conditions on our love for others. But the Lord's love for us is unconditional. No matter what happens, He will love us. We must do the same. Our love for others, especially for members in our family, should not be based on whether they do the dishes, or help to clean the house--all of those things don't matter! What matters most is that we love them no matter what.
Christ loves each of us, just as we should love all people. His example for us is perfect, and we should strive to follow His example that we might also become perfect.
